Andrew Blackwood Rallying

On the 23rd of April we headed to Kames Motorsport Complex for the 5 star EACC Kames rally we were starting car four so we were looking to finish in at least the top 3 at the end of the day to get some good points towards the championship. The forecast said that it was to rain all day so we knew that it would be slippy and challenging and that we would need to have full concentration to be able to do well. We finished the first two stages 3rd overall after getting two clean runs but just not fast enough. Then on stage three we made a mistake which would cost us later on after making a mistake early in the stage I was pushing too hard to make up for lost time and spun into a tyre and struggled to get going again, this cost us about 20 seconds which ended up costing us winning at the end of the event. The rest of the day we were just trying to make up the lost time but in the end the gap was too big and we ended up nine seconds behind the winner but still managed to get third place which still gives us good championship points

The result leaves us second in the championship one point behind the leader after two 3rd place finishes in the first two rounds but there is still a long way to go yet.

Thanks to all the marshals for braving the conditions today. Thanks to Richard Stewart for sitting with me again and thanks to Dad and Ben for looking after the car all day. Also a big thanks to my sponsors Creo Design, Gibsons Auto Services, M Torrance Garage and The Cobble Shop without them none of this would be possible

Next round of the championship is at Leuchars on the 26th of May hopefully we can get a good result on get more pointswheels
