FAMILY ACTIVITY CENTRE IN STEWARTON GETS BIGGER AND BETTER!
Over eight years ago I set up a children’s activity class in Stewarton, called Artys. Babies, toddlers and young children attended the classes to take part in arts and crafts, play games and most importantly have fun.
The classes grew, and due to this, Artys moved to bigger premises at the Area Centre in Stewarton. An extra day was added and then along came Monkey Madness, a supervised class for three to eight year-olds involving music and movement.
Now we have taken up residence in The Centre located at Standalane in Stewarton. This gives us more space to offer new services to the local community, which is at the heart of our business. This is incorporated in our name MONKEY F.A.C.E. Family Activity Centre for Everyone. Offering families or adults and children to get involved in activities promoting fitness, health and fun.
We are open two days a week, Monday and Thursdays from 9am to 5pm. In the main hall of the centre, we run a variety of classes on both days.
Upstairs we have our cafe which is open to everyone and serves breakfast, lunches, snacks & drinks. Our resident chef provides tasty & nutritious food, packed full of fresh fruit and veg. We have a variety of soups, fruit breakfast muffins, sandwiches, toasties, baked potatoes, wraps, pancakes and sweet treats too.
Food and drink suitable for babies, children & adults. Fruit Smoothies & milkshakes are also being introduced now that the summer weather is here.
Why not try our ‘Kids Lunch bags’ that are packed with goodies. The space that the Centre provides, allows us to offer classes for all ages (see our timetable on our website for details).
In the Pop up Cafe we have Play Corner for under 5’s. We have a workstation for five to eight year olds, after school and during the holidays, so that children can enjoy supervised art & craft activities or have fun playing games.
We offer a new music & movement class for 0-2yr olds – Little Monkeys, offers parents with the wee ones, a chance to get active too! It’s a good way to meet other parents and to bond with your baby in a fun way.
With the addition of a personal trainer, Clare Buddle, to the team, we offer adult boot camp sessions and PRAMfit for outdoor fitness with our on-site creche, run by our qualified and experienced staff. Annette Sharp, who helps run Artys, is a qualified nutritionist. Come along to her ‘food for fun’ session that offers families nutritional advice, in a more relaxed and personal way.
The Lounge area, within the centre, is for adults to enjoy something to eat or refreshment from the café, in a more quiet & relaxed way.
The lounge Area is open to over 8’s after school & during the school holidays. This gives older children and young teens the chance to hang out, play pool, table football, listen to music and take part in arts and crafts & baking sessions, all supervised by qualified and experienced staff.
Our first social event – on 17/4/14 was inspired by the movie ‘The Rise of the Guardians’. We staged a woodland Easter egg hunt, in which we are fortunate to have the beautiful Lainshaw woods on our doorstep where our characters were hiding. The children had to solve each clue to find the characters that would lead them back to the centre in the hunt for the missing eggs. The children also enjoyed a picnic lunch and a professional magic show by Gary Dunn. Children and adults commented that they had a fun time!
Zarah, a parent from Stewarton, has been delighted with what Monkey FACE offers, she said;
“We found out about Little Monkeys from one of our neighbors. Being new to Stewarton, as we are originally from Glasgow, we didn’t know what the area had to offer for babies and children. We were very impressed when we saw what Monkey Face offered. We enjoy Little monkeys and then went up to the cafe for lunch where every need is catered for, baby chairs, play mats, high chairs etc. There is also a quiet area for breast feeding. You also can buy baby food too, so all the family is happy and the soup is amazing!
“We go back downstairs to put Lola in the crèche whilst mum tries to get back in shape with the adult boot camp class. We also attend PRAMfit on a Thursday morning and mum and babies all seem to enjoy running around Stewarton.
“At Easter we also attended the Easter egg hunt which was organised by Monkey Face. It was fantastic. My brother and sister came down from Glasgow and Paisley with their kids to join in the fun and were very impressed with what’s on offer in Stewarton. It’s great value for money and it gives mums and dads a chance to meet up and discuss their sleepless nights and baby news.”
Alison, a parent from Stewarton, commented;
“The atmosphere at Monkey FACE is fantastic! The staff made us feels really welcome. I enjoyed spending most of the day at the centre, my twins loved Arty’s in the morning then we all had a great value, healthy lunch in the cafe. I returned in the afternoon while the boys attended nursery, to get a great workout at the adult boot camp and then attended the nutrition class for some tips. The company & support I experienced really boosted my mood & confidence”.
