Do you enjoy music and are looking for something to do on a Friday afternoon?
We want to tell you about a community event in Stewarton that is run at St Columba’s Church Hall on the last Friday afternoon (2pm to 3.45pm) of each month.
The event has been running successfully for nearly two years and is attended by up to 30 people. The enthusiastic Eddie Binnie and Andy Kerr regularly provide music. The duo play the guitar and song sheets are handed out of popular classic songs and we all join in with the singing. You do not need to be the greatest singer in the world to take part. It is a fun event where you can enjoy a sing-song, socialise and have some home baking, tea and coffee provided by the St Columba’s Church volunteers.
This fun and relaxing event is run for all members of the Stewarton community and surrounding area, and is supported by St Columba’s Church volunteers in cooperation with Alzheimer Scotland.
Alzheimer Scotland have become involved in this event to encourage local persons in the community with dementia to attend a fun event and have the chance to socialise and enjoy music. A person with dementia could attend with their carer or family friend. Music is a great therapy and is enjoyed by all.
We offer a welcome to all new friends to share the enjoyment of our Musical afternoons.
The John Knox Church Choir will be attending the November event on Friday 28th as the build up to Christmas begins. As it is the last Musical Minds event of 2014 we will be enjoying Christmas songs and refreshments.
There is no December Musical Minds, which restarts on 30th January 2015.
