Stewarton United Ladies

The newly formed Stewarton United Ladies football team have taken the Scottish Women’s Football League by storm. After playing their first two games, in the South West Division two league, they have outperformed both teams.

On the 10th February, Stewarton United Ladies kicked of the 2019 season with a brilliant win against East Kilbride Thistle. The final score 11-0 to the Stewarton ladies. Their next game, against Mid Annandale, saw a similar result 11-3. All players have played exceptional. Donald Baird, Team Manager, said, “The team’s performances over the first two league games have been excellent. We have made a great start to our first season and I could not be prouder of our players. We have a great team spirit and are doing Stewarton proud.”

The football club currently have 25 signed players aswell as at least 10 casual players. The interest has been fantastic. Lisa Millar, Club President, said, “I’m delighted with how quickly the team has developed over the past few months. Since setting up the club in June 2019, I’ve seen a vast improvement in the players and how well they play as a team. They always put in 100 and 10 percent at training and games.” New players are always welcome, experienced and beginners. They train every Tuesday night from 8-9pm. Contact the club facebook page for more details.

On the 2nd February, the club hosted their first fundraiser which ended up being a huge success. They would like to thank all those who supported it. The atmosphere was brilliant. The funds raised will be used to purchase their first training kits. Their next fundraiser will be at Halloween – keep an eye out for the details on their facebook page.

As they are just starting out, they are still looking for sponsorship for all aspects of running the club. They are also looking for volunteers to join their club, including a Team Physio and a Media Officer.
